What inspired you to be a travel consultant?


Obviously a love of travel. It probably wasn't the route most people take! After years of sharing my home with dogs, I found myself without one for the first time in a very long while. I wasn't ready for another dog, but I missed having them around, so I started my dog sitting business. Before long, I realised almost every booking was because someone was going away on holiday. It got me thinking... If I was helping people enjoy their time away by caring for their dogs, why couldn't I help them plan the holiday too? I spoke to family and close friends about the idea, and their encouragement gave me the confidence to take the next step. That's when I found Jamie Wake Travel, whose values matched my own. They supported me in building my own business rather than asking me to fit into someone else's brand. Now, through Wanderlust & Wags, I can help people from the moment they start planning their holiday until they return home—knowing both their trip and, if they're one of my dog sitting clients, their dogs are in safe hands.



What do you love most about working as an independent travel consultant?


When I was looking for a travel company to work with, finding the right fit was really important to me. I wanted to work with people who valued relationships over sales targets and supported independent business owners to grow in their own way. That's exactly what I found with The Independent Travel Consultants, and it's been a great place to learn, develop and build my business with confidence.

1. Romania - steeped in history and so much to do even if you just want to stay in Bucharest 2. Iceland - again, so much history and lots of Viking history made this an amazing holiday and not a long flight 3. Innsbruck - not the cheapest of places to go but amazingly beautiful scenery and not a million miles from other parts of Europe
